I used to care so. much. about the Oscars. 1998 was when I fell in love with them, and right around “The Best Picture is…La La Land” is when I stopped caring.
I realized the other day that it’s not just my indifference that has made me stop paying as much attention to these and all other award shows. The production is worse now, and no one wants to host. What used to feel big, flashy, and prestigious now (rightfully) feels superfluous, extraneous, and unnecessarily expensive.
